Improve input validation in hostname configuration

Description

At the moment there is no input validation done when configuring the hostname for a server.
When the user enters an invalid hostname the scheduler will automatically be paused, but it would
be nice of such configuration errors are already detected as soon as possible. This issue
was mentioned at https://www.nntpgrab.nl/boards/1/topics/487
